Our Mission
Mtoto wa Bahari, meaning “child of the ocean” in Swahili, is a non-profit, community-based organization (CBO) dedicated to empowering young women and young mothers in Kilifi County, Kenya. We envision a future free from the cycle of poverty and despair, where teenage girls have the tools they need to succeed.
The Aim
Our mission is to achieve a 3% annual reduction in adolescent birth rates in Kilifi County, reaching a 10% reduction by 2029. We achieve this by:
- Equipping young women with comprehensive sex education: We provide knowledge and skills to make informed choices about their health and future.
- Specialized training programs: We offer practical skills development to unlock sustainable economic opportunities.
- Fostering personal growth: We encourage artistic expression and empower young women to reach their full potential.
